Incite Participant to perform 2014 Worlds Indigenous People’s Conference
Shanelle ‘Cara’ Collins, a participant in both Incite & WYDAC partnership projects Red Sand Culture & Sourthern Ngalia, has been chosen by her school to attend and perform at the Worlds Indigenous People’s Conference in Hawaii, May 2014.
Shanelle and her family are happy for Incite to share this news and they acknowledge and believe that Shanelle’s involvement with RSC and past SN has helped her grow in confidence as a performer. As well as providing her opportunities that she would otherwise have not have had access to.
In 2012 Shanelle struggled with a number of issues and was identified as a young person “at risk”. She really enjoys her studies at Worawa Aboriginal College and has been supported to continue to develop her enjoyment and talent in the performing arts.
Check out this music video for one of Cara’s songs, recorded as part of the Red Sand Culture program.
