Enid Nangala Gallagher

Enid Nangala Gallagher was born in Yuendumu, Enid plays a key leadership role in many organisations and programs to benefit her Warlpiri community. Enid leads the Southern Ngaliya dance camp program, as Cultural Custodian, in collaboration with Incite Arts and the Warlpiri Youth Development Aboriginal Program. Southern Ngaliya is an intergenerational women’s dance project in which Senior Warlpiri Women facilitate traditional dance and ceremonial experiences for younger women and girls from Yuendumu, Willowra and Nyirripi and Lajamanu.

Enid’s key leadership role with the Southern Ngaliya Dancers sees her consult with the Warlpiri Custodians and Traditional Owners. In Unbroken Land 2018, Enid and her fellow Southern Ngaliya Cultural Custodians led the dancers to develop and present episodes of Water Dreaming – Yawulyu. In the 2020/2021 Unbroken Land program, a short film was created from their previous performances and dance camps.
