Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Arts Programs

Incite Arts facilitates events and programs that provide a platform for collective community storytelling. Incite thrives on bringing people together through community arts practice to experience diverse stories of belonging, celebrations of culture and our place in the landscape.

Unbroken Land is a classic example of Incite working with the wonderful culturally diverse Central Australian community. This production, held at the Alice Springs Desert Park in 2015, 2016, 2018 and then online in 2020/2021, showcased the important stories of these communities to Central Australia and the world. With six different cultural communities engaged in Unbroken Land productions over the years, Incite continues this rich work today.

Case Study

Zimbabwean Outback Melodies

Zimbabwean Outback Melodies are a lady’s choir group based in Alice Springs who collaborated with Incite to create a song and short film called Water is Life for the 2020/2021 Unbroken Land presentation. The song is about water being life and describes the water that we share, the well where they get their water in Africa, and the water that is here in Alice Springs/Mparntwe, put together with an old celebration song called “Shosholoza”, originally sung by men from the Ndebele, signifying working together for a common cause.
